Ryu Furusawa Born in Tokyo in 1984, he is based in Tokyo and Chiba. He is an artist and surfer. He employs the very process of image fixation as his medium, utilizing both digital and physical interventions to create unique situations that shift the viewer's perceptual level. The resulting ephemeral landscapes act as mirrors, reflecting the viewer's own perception. His exhibitions include the solo show "Mid Tide" (ArtSpaceKimura, Tokyo, 2024) and the group exhibition "ICC Annual 2024: Faraway, so close" (NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC], Tokyo, 2024). In 2023, he received a grant from the Project to Support Emerging Media Arts Creators by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan. With this support, he produced MidTide#3, which received an Honorary Mention at the Prix Ars Electronica 2024. Since 2015, he has also been active as part of the artist collective "YOF". |
