Thomas Eller was born in Coburg, Germany. He studied arts and humanities at the Berlin University of the Arts and then at the Freie Universität Berlin. From 1995 to 2004 he was living in New York. Returning to Berlin in 2004, he created a German language art magazine on the platform of artnet and became the executive manger Germany for artnet and from 2008 he has executive and artistic director of the Temporäre Kunsthalle Berlin, a museum for contemporary art in Berlin. He has also lived and lived in Beijing from 2014 to 2020 in the and has been active in the Chinese contemporary art scene as the founder of Beijing Gallery Week. Most recently, he worked as an associate researcher at Tsinghua University and as founding director of the China Arts& Sciences Project in Jingdezhen. He is currently the president of Randian magazine, was one of the curators of the Guangzhou Triennale 2022, and a member of AICA, the International Art Critics Association and CIMAM, the International Committee of Modern and Contemporary Art Museum. |
