Xiaopeng Zhou, born in Guangzhou (China) in 1985. Lives and works in Berlin, studied at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (BA) and the Weißensee academy of art Berlin (MA). In recent years, he focused on the practice of recording in art projects by reportorial drawing, so as to re-observe the molding materials and the processing. His practice has exceeded "on-spot drawing" in a narrow definition—he often spent several weeks or months staying with different people in specific daily working spaces and recorded by drawing. His recent interests mainly focus on the individual in labor and aesthetic needs, and he also attempts to use a more complex way in his practice. He has held solo exhibitions at the Weißensee academy of art Berlin and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. His work has also participated in several group exhibitions, including the Kunsthaus Hamburg, the 7th Shenzhen-Hong Kong City \ Architecture Biennale Biennale, Guangdong Museum of Art, and Berlin's Center for Art and Urbanistics (ZKU), Art Gallery of Hamburg Square, After the Butcher, Kunsrsaele, Hobusepea Gallery, Tallinn, etc. |
